Christians Worship a False God

Love Thy Neighbor’ Has Been Forgotten in Most Churches in America

Many Christians are unaware that they are serving a false God. The God that they serve is not the God of the Bible, the Lord of the Old and New Testament. It is an Idol. An Ideal. This American god promises to bring in prosperity, fame an the “ideal” life.

Worshiping the American Idol

Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God.(Leviticus 26:1 )

It’s not a coincidence that one of the most groundbreaking shows and hugely successful phenomenon in the U.S. was American Idol. Weekly viewers tuned in to pick the next person worthy to be worshiped. What made this show so unique was that instead of someone else telling us who we should aspire to be like, we as a people, collectively could vote and make the decision for ourselves.

Unfortunately with churchgoers across this country, who regularly attend the fruit-bowl of diverse Christ based churches, have bought into this worship. We reach up our hands begging for prosperity. Asking God to drop down divine boats and supernatural cars and angelic homes while snubbing our less well off neighbor.

The financial crisis has pulled the weeds of this nonsense, but the roots are still there. We can still go to church any given Sunday and find a young women with a dress no longer than the crease of her buttocks proudly walking to the alter, emulating the latest trend that Katy PerryBeyonce orRihanna is prancing around in. We can also find men of all sorts losing their families over rampant infidelity found in religious life.

 Sacrifice Of The Poor

Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly (Leviticus 19:15 )

When a God is worshiped there always are sacrifices given, in our case, it’s the lives of the poor and oppressed. We find constant campaigns jesus politicsagainst welfare mothers and families collecting foodstamps. We boast about how we apore abortion, yet we strip every program designed to help the family who is struggling to make the day to day ends meet. We, as a Christians either are dishing out racism or silently sitting by with our eyes diverted from those who are hurt by it. If someone complains we don’t want to think about it so we tell them to get over it.
